Job summary

West Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Worker 2 Traffic Control to maintain and repair roadway signs across District 4. The role requires installing signs on breakaway supports and following all safety procedures while coordinating with the crew supervisor.

Qualifications

• Two years of roadway maintenance or traffic control experience.
• CDL within six months of employment.
• Travel may be required and a valid driver's license is required.

• No formal education required.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair roadway signs and barricades on construction projects.
• Operate hydraulic post driver to set signposts; erect and replace signs.
• Cut/sign post removal with chop saw and hand tools; use torch for pavement markings.
• Set up traffic control signs, flag motorists, and manage lane closures and detours.
• Maintain and distribute signs from central shop; keep records of work performed.
• Travel as needed; ensure CDL is obtained within six months of employment.
