Job summary

The City of New York's Department of Transportation seeks an Apprentice Inspector (Highways) to route daily work, inspect sites, and coordinate with DOT divisions, agencies, utilities, and contractors for safety and compliance.

You will perform field inspections, log findings via tablet, and help ensure routes are free of sidewalk and roadway defects under DOT jurisdiction. NY driver license required for the role.

Qualifications

• Must possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in New York State.
• Strong attention to detail and safety.
• Ability to route daily work, inspect, log and maintain field data.

Responsibilities

• evaluate conditions and take appropriate action;
• re-inspect and confirm that repairs have been corrected and verify actual condition;
• respond to complaints regarding roadway defects and ensure contractor compliance;
• observe backfill and restorations on protected streets to ensure compliance with Local Law 14;
