The City of New York’s Department of Transportation seeks an Apprentice Inspector (Highways) to inspect roadway defects and openings, coordinating with utility companies, contractors, and event producers to ensure safe routes.

You will conduct field inspections, log findings, and report repairs prior to events, driving to locations as needed and maintaining equipment and daily reports. A New York driver license is required and must be kept current.

Qualifications

• Must possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York.
• This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.

Responsabilités

• Inspect roadway defects and openings belonging to utility companies, plumbers, contractors, and other agencies in preparation for Citywide Special Events.
• Evaluate conditions, re-inspect repairs, and verify actual condition; respond to complaints regarding roadway defects.
• Observe backfill and restorations on protected streets to ensure compliance with Local Law 14.
• Act as liaison for the agency with DOT divisions, City/state agencies, utility companies, and contractors; enforce DOT rules and guidelines.
• Route daily work, search, inspect, log, and maintain field work using a tablet; submit daily reports, forms and sketches.
