Job summary

Join Mott MacDonald for a Roadway Project Manager role focused on North Carolina projects. Lead highway design efforts, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure technical excellence and integrity in project delivery.

You’ll contribute to proposal work and client engagements while guiding junior engineers. Applicants should hold a NC PE, have 8+ years of highway experience, and be adept with Microstation, Geopak, and Bentley ORD.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
• North Carolina PE license.
• 8+ years of highway design experience.
• Familiarity with NC DOT practices and docs.
• Experience with Microstation, Geopak, Bentley ORD & MS Office.
• Strong decision-making, flexibility, and attention to detail.
• Ability to coordinate multiple design tasks and communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design highway/roadway projects both within a design team and independently.
• Prepare design plans, specifications, and quantities.
• Review calculations for highway design elements.
• Prepare preconstruction cost estimates and assist with proposals.
• Meet with clients and coordinate with the project team.

As a Roadway Project Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with our existing talented engineers on some of the largest projects locally and across the country. Often working alongside a multi-disciplined team, your projects will primarily be focused in North Carolina for some of the area’s biggest clients varying in size and complexity.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing highway/roadway and work both as part of a design team and independently.
• Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Preparing design plans, specifications, and quantities.
• Reviewing and preparing calculations for project elements related to highway design.
• Reviewing and preparing preconstruction cost estimates for projects.
• Working with the team to prepare proposals.
• Attending meetings with clients with other members of the project team.
• Preparing of design plans, specifications, and quantities.

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, or similar
• North Carolina PE
• At least 8 years of experience in highway design and local streets
• Familiarity with North Carolina Department of Transportation engineering practices, standards and documentation
• Experience with Microstation, Geopak, Bentley ORD, and Microsoft Office software
• Good decision-making skills, flexibility, focus on quality and attention to detail
• Ability to coordinate the work on various project design tasks
• Interact and communicate effectively with design team members, clients and other agencies
