Job summary

Mott MacDonald is expanding its Traffic Engineering team in Raleigh, NC to grow our traffic design services in North Carolina. We seek a Traffic Engineer with NCDOT traffic signals experience to help deliver a backlog of diverse transportation projects.

You will collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to apply engineering excellence, innovation, and integrity, supporting career growth and delivering value to clients in the southeastern US.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional registration preferred (not required).
• PTOE certification a plus.
• 5+ years’ experience in Traffic & Transportation Engineering.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and MicroStation tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide project and technical leadership in Traffic Engineering.
• Understand traffic engineering principles for southeastern US projects.
• Provide input on a wide range of transportation projects.
• Coordinate work with subject matter experts and consultants to meet schedules.
• Review and evaluate project deliverables for quality and scope alignment.
• Deliver technical projects and reports.

To continue to perform and grow our traffic design services in North Carolina, Mott MacDonald is expanding our Traffic Engineering team. With a significant backlog of work, we are searching for a Traffic Engineer with NCDOT traffic signals experience and knowledge. This role is based in our Raleigh, NC office.

Responsibilities of the position will include, but may not be limited to:

• Provide project and technical leadership in Traffic Engineering
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of traffic engineering principles required to complete projects for clients in the southeastern US region
• Provide input and responsibility on a wide range of transportation projects
• Demonstrated the ability to direct and coordinate work with subject matter experts and consultants to meet schedules
• Assign, review, and evaluate project deliverables for quality and consistency with project scope
• Deliver technical projects and reports

• BS (Civil) Engineering, or equivalent
• Professional registration preferred (not required)
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) a plus
• 5+ years’ experience in Traffic & Transportation Engineering preferred
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
• Experience or training in computer applications and operations (Microsoft Office, MicroStation (ORD and/or V8i), etc.)
