THE POSITION
Would you enjoy a career supporting vital roadway operations that keep your community moving safely and smoothly every day? As a Roadway Programs Technician 1 for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), you will help organize and track key information used to support a wide-range of maintenance projects. This position allows you to work with managers, field staff, and inventory systems to keep operations moving smoothly. You will also assist with monitoring supplies, collecting data, and reviewing important roadway information. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports roadway maintenance planning, data review, inventory monitoring, and field evaluations across the Carbon County. As a Roadway Programs Technician 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Plan Review: Analyze work plans and help adjust program needs for labor, materials, and equipment
- Data Analysis: Review information from Systems Applications and Products (SAP) and Roadway Management System (RMS) systems to support goals and maintain program accuracy
- Field Monitoring: Observe maintenance work in the field and gather data to support development of work standards
- Inventory Control: Track materials, monitor stockpile levels, and complete goods receipt entries in SAP
- Damage Assessment: Inspect guiderail and roadway damage, prepare reports, and coordinate repairs with contractors
- Contract Oversight: Monitor roadside service contracts and verify that completed work meets expectations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and shift work are required. Work hours are subject to change based upon seasonal requirements and operational needs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position
- Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of experience as a Technical Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent; or
- An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of a current driver's license which is not under suspension.
