Examples of duties

This position supports roadway maintenance operations by assisting with data tracking, review, and planning tasks that guide decision making for Pike County. As a Roadway Programs Technician 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Data Management: Enter, review, and analyze roadway and materials data to support maintenance planning
  • Inventory Tracking: Monitor material quantities, process load slips, and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Contract Oversight: Coordinate with contractors, verify completed work, and ensure proper documentation
  • Field Reviews: Visit sites to gather information, inspect guiderail damage, and document roadway conditions
  • Customer Service: Communicate with internal staff, contractors, and the public to address questions and concerns
  • Safety Support: Follow safety protocols and assist with reporting hazards and accidents

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Possible winter shift work as needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • One year of experience as a Technical Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent; or
  • An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
