Job summary

The City of Tampa seeks a Transportation Operations Technician Trainee to perform manual and semi-skilled labor in transportation construction, maintenance and repair under supervision. You will operate power tools, read street maps, and follow safety practices in a dynamic field setting.

This bargaining unit position requires a high school diploma and a Florida CDL with Tanker endorsement. Work may include night shifts, weekends, and overtime; training progresses toward Transportation

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or technical/vocational training.
• Valid Florida CDL, Class A or B with Tanker endorsement, required for position.

Responsibilities

• Performs manual and semi-skilled transportation construction, repair, and maintenance tasks.
• Operates power tools and small equipment under supervision.
• Reads street maps; interprets gauges/meters and locates utilities.
• Maintains attendance records and timesheets; prepares and maintains records of work performed.
• Places and maintains traffic control devices and repairs traffic sign locations as needed.
