Job summary

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking a dependable Highway Maintenance Worker 2 in Elma, WA. You’ll work outdoors, operating equipment to maintain highways, structures and adjacent right of way as part of a team.

Four 10‑hour shifts with rotational night work are typical. Required are journey-level highway maintenance skills, a Class A CDL (N endorsement) or ability to obtain within 12 months, and safety certifications.

Qualifications

• Journey-Level highway maintenance experience with pavement repair, drainage, erosion control and debris removal.
• Ability to obtain a valid Traffic Control/Flagging card within six months and First Aid/CPR certification within six months.
• Valid driver’s license to operate vehicles in Washington State.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class A, B, C highway maintenance equipment and perform repairs on pavement and roadside infrastructure.
• Maintain drainage, signs, guardrails, and perform vegetation management and debris removal.
• Set up traffic control, flagging, and respond to emergencies as needed.
