Arkansas Department of Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Aide I to operate a single-axle truck and mowing equipment and perform various road maintenance tasks.

The role involves mowing, landscape upkeep, equipment operation, loading materials, flagging traffic, sign logistics, and occasional emergency response. A valid driver’s license and CDL readiness within timelines are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language and to make entries on reports and records.
• Experience operating a truck, tractor or heavy equipment preferred.

Responsabilités

• Operate a single-axle dump truck hauling highway construction or maintenance materials frequently.
• Mow and maintain grass using large tractors and gang mowers.
• Perform landscape maintenance and tree cutting on highway right-of-ways and facilities.
• Use power equipment and hand tools to repair highways.
• Load, unload and stack bags of salt, sand, cement, chemicals, etc.
• Flag traffic and assist with setting up signs and cones for work zones.
• Respond to emergencies 24/7 and assist with ice/snow removal as needed.
