Job summary

City of Goodyear, AZ, is seeking a dependable street maintenance worker to perform crack sealing, pothole filling, and related paving duties within city limits. You will operate heavy equipment, follow MUTCD traffic control standards, and log inspections and materials, contributing to safe and durable roadways.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of hands-on pavement work, safety-oriented mindset, and the ability to work in hot outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• At least two years of crack-seal or pavement maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of MUTCD requirements and traffic control practices.
• Safety-first mindset and PPE use, hazard awareness, and team protection.
• Strong communication, direction-following, and reliability in outdoor environments.
• Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment used in crack-sealing and roadway maintenance.
• Punctuality and adaptability to field conditions and detail orientation.
• CDL preferred for priority consideration.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roadways by filling potholes, sealing cracks, and operating heavy equipment and patch trucks.
• Maintain 30 miles of unpaved roads using graders and rollers; manage blue stake requests.
• Inspect and maintain the City’s storm drain system and related structures.
• Manage inventories, prepare material orders, and create traffic control plans as needed.
• Inspect roads and storm drains; log conditions and issues for action.
• Assist Traffic Operations with sign maintenance, striping, and retro-reflectivity testing.
• Support street sweeping and emergency after-hours response.
• Perform labor-intensive work in high temperatures.
