Job summary

State of Indiana, through INDOT, is seeking a Highway Technician in the Wabash unit to perform general road maintenance, snow removal, and emergency operations. This entry-level role offers overtime during emergencies and opportunities for advancement.

Qualified candidates must hold a valid CDL or obtain one within 90 days, pass a drug test, and be able to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in all weather. CDL endorsements and inventory control knowledge are a plus.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days.
• Pass and submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of inventory control systems.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance/traffic equipment to maintain roads.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Perform winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Perform emergency response activities (traffic control, signs, barricades).
• Inspect and perform routine equipment maintenance.
