Job summary

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Inc. is seeking a skilled equipment operator for roadway maintenance and emergency response support. You will operate a range of heavy and light equipment, perform routine repairs, and assist with traffic control and customer service on a 24/7 schedule.

Must hold a valid CDL (A preferred) with appropriate endorsements, and a DOT medical certificate. This on-site role emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork in a demanding field environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification.
• Valid Class A CDL or Class B CDL with Class A permit; road test by end of probation.
• Endorsement for tank vehicles (N or X) required.
• DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (physical).
• One year experience operating tractor trailers or heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy and light construction equipment safely and efficiently.
• Respond to accidents/incidents and assist with traffic control.
• Perform routine maintenance and assist mechanics.
• Handle supplies, parts, and inventory between locations.
• Support emergency response and customer assistance as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain attendance and reliability.
