Job summary

State of South Dakota's Department of Transportation is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker in Kadoka. You will be part of a crew performing roadway maintenance, signage, markings, and winter work across varying schedules.

Night, weekend, and holiday duties may be required during emergencies and adverse weather. You must hold a valid driver's license and obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 120 days of hire; an N endorsement (tank vehicle) is required for certain positions.

Qualifications

• Experience in the operation of heavy equipment/farming or ranching equipment and/or experience in heavy construction is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway maintenance activities and roadside tasks.
• Install and replace signs, permanent traffic control devices, and pavement markings.
• Maintain and repair guardrail systems and department facilities.
• Respond to emergencies and other incidents; provide on-the-job training and direction.
• Operate a variety of equipment and tools and perform preventive maintenance.
