Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is seeking a maintenance worker to perform routine, entry-level duties in maintaining state roadways and facilities. Work is performed under direct supervision, with opportunities for career advancement through the CAREER-LADDER tracks.

The role involves road and facility maintenance, traffic control, and possible overtime or nighttime work. Training and advancement are available as you gain experience and skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Passing the CDL written portion is required prior to hire; tanker endorsement, Class B, and interstate status within 60 days after hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state highway systems: joints, cracks, potholes, traffic control devices, materials handling, brush clearing, litter removal.
• Maintain and repair highway facilities: signs, guardrails, curbs, gutters, buildings, equipment, and machinery.
• Operate vehicles to transport personnel and equipment, plow snow, spread ice control materials, and run various trucks and machinery.
• May repair bridge decks, drains, and signs; install and repair signs at overhead positions; work at heights with ladders/scaffolding.
