Job summary

MoDOT, the Missouri Department of Transportation, maintains the seventh largest highway system in the United States and offers a CAREER-LADDER path from entry to senior levels. This role focuses on preserving and operating state highways and facilities, with opportunities for advancement based on skill and experience.

The position requires physical stamina, a valid driver’s license, and a CDL with tanker endorsement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Pass CDL exam (tanker endorsement, Class B, EI/NI) within 60 days of hire.
• Complete work simulation and medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Maintains state highway systems, including filling joints and cracks, patching potholes, flagging, traffic control devices, signs, cones and boards.
• Keeps state highway facilities clean and repaired, including signs, guardrails, curbs, gutters, buildings and equipment.
• Operates vehicles to transport staff and materials; plows snow and spreads ice control materials; mows right of way; operates heavy equipment and trucks.
• May repair bridges and drains; cleans bridge bents/caps at heights using ladders or scaffolding.
• May install signs and weld/repair sign posts and footings.
