The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a maintenance worker to operate herbicide equipment and trucks within District 6. You will collect and verify data for HMMS, perform safety analyses, and participate in safety meetings.

Responsibilities include setting up work zones, CDL pre-trip inspections, and aiding in maintenance and emergency responses. A valid SC CDL and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within six months are required, along with one year of related experience

Qualifications

• One (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Responsabilités

• Operate herbicide application equipment and herbicide truck along roads and bridges within District 6 per the IRVM plan.
• Provide data to the Herbicide Crew Leader or Foreman for HMMS entry; perform quality control checks on reports.
• Assist in completing job hazard analyses, participate in safety meetings, and inform crew of hazards.
• Place traffic control devices to set up maintenance work zones according to the Work Zone Traffic Control Manual.
• Complete CDL pre-trip inspections before operating CDL vehicles.
• Participate in assigned training and assist in gathering data for daily, weekly, and monthly reports, time sheets and cost records.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance; assist in emergencies removing fallen trees, snow, and ice.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
