Job summary

State of Colorado’s Department of Transportation is seeking a Highway Maintenance Specialist in Dillon, CO. The role involves hands-on road maintenance, snow plowing, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring safety on Colorado roadways. On-site, you will join a patrol with lead and support staff.

Base pay plus housing stipend, 26 biweekly pay periods, and overtime opportunities. Requires CDL A/B and willingness to work our emergency response schedule.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow and operating heavy equipment (e.g., tandem dump truck, loader, tractor mower).
• Maintain and repair road infrastructure, sign and traffic control devices, and guardrails.
• Respond to emergencies, work on-call, and function in a team environment.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE; perform minor equipment maintenance.
