Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a motivated Assistant Supervisor for the Tilden Maintenance Section. The role leads a team of maintenance and clerical staff, coordinates daily operations, prioritizes roadway maintenance, and ensures safety and efficiency per TxDOT standards.

The ideal candidate has 5 years of roadway maintenance experience with at least 1 year in supervision, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver’s license with CDL required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Grad or Equivalent.
• Experience: 5 years in roadway maintenance or construction; 1 year supervisory/managerial experience.
• Substitutions: related college education or technical training may substitute.
• Licenses: Valid driver's license; CDL required.

Responsibilities

• Assigns and oversees the work of section and contracted crews; ensures all projects follow safety guidelines.
• Assists in budget preparation for the section.
• Assists with planning, coordinating and implementing emergency response to weather, accidents, and spills.
• Handles public complaints.
• Oversees scheduling of equipment, material and personnel for section projects.
• Responsible for operations of section in supervisor's absence.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
