Job summary

State of Indiana seeks qualified candidates for a role with INDOT’s Loogootee unit, performing highway maintenance, testing, and construction oversight. CDL is required or obtainable within 90 days; ability to operate equipment and lead crews is essential.

Position offers CDL incentives, CDL training onsite, and a comprehensive Indiana benefits package. Candidates must pass a drug test and meet safety standards; HS diploma or equivalent may be considered.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one within 90 days.
• Pass and submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Knowledge of highway guidelines, laws and regulations for construction inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair.
• Ability to independently lead and coordinate a crew in the field.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate basic highway maintenance/traffic equipment to maintain, repair and clean highways and rights-of-way.
• Ensure staff complete work assignments and report problems to supervisors.
• Communicate with contractors to ensure procedures meet standards.
• Perform winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and pre-trip inspections.
• Maintain, repair, and install traffic signs and pavement markings.
• Respond to emergencies with traffic control and barricades.
• Attend scheduled workdays at assigned sites.
