Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one within 90 days.
• Pass a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Knowledge of highway guidelines, laws and regulations for construction inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.
• Ability to lead a crew in the field.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and handle physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain, repair and clean highways and rights-of-way.
• Ensure staff complete work as directed and report problems to supervisors.
• Communicate with contractors to ensure procedures meet INDOT standards.
• Perform winter operations and routine equipment maintenance.
• Maintain traffic signs, route markers, and pavement markings.
• Respond to emergencies including traffic control and barricading as needed.
