Job summary

State of South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a maintenance worker to operate tandem dump truck, large roller, and skid steer for roadway and right-of-way upkeep.

The role includes patching, signage and pavement markings, vegetation management, drainage work, and assisting with traffic control per MUTCD. Six months of related experience and a CDL within six months are required; lifting up to 50 lbs and outdoor work are common.

Qualifications

• Six months of related work experience or equivalent.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Operate tandem dump truck, large roller, and skid steer loader for roadway maintenance.
• Perform patching, limb and brush trimming, and pavement marking maintenance.
• Assist in traffic control device placement and manage traffic during maintenance operations.
• Work with a crew using proper maintenance techniques and perform manual labor as needed.
• Complete pre-trip inspections and operate equipment in snow removal and inclement weather.
• Lifting up to 50 lbs and working near traffic and environmental hazards.
