South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an equipment operator to maintain vegetation along state highways in Allendale County. You will drive a tractor with a large mower, operate a front-end loader for material handling, and set up traffic control to protect workers and motorists.

The role requires six months of related work experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related work experience or equivalent
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator's license
• Must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of placement

Responsabilités

• Operate a tractor with a large mower to maintain vegetation management guidelines on state highway right-of-ways
• Load and unload materials using a front-end loader as needed
• Coordinate placement of traffic control devices to set up maintenance work zones
• Conduct and document pre-trip equipment/vehicle inspections
• Flag traffic during road repairs to control flow of traffic and protect workers
• Assist in snow/ice and debris removal during inclement weather; may require extended hours or 12-hour shifts
• Perform other related duties as assigned
