Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
• Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment, materials, methods, and procedures.
• Safety shoes required.
• Skill in the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools.
• Skill in the operation and maintenance of light, medium, and heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain light, medium, and heavy-duty highway equipment.
• Prepare equipment for snow/ice removal and emergency operations; provide traffic control.
• Perform emergency roadway operations as an essential employee.
• Apply MUTCD guidance for detours, lane closures, work zones.
• Maintain clean, safe work environment; follow OSHA/VOSHA safety rules.
• Participate as a working crew member to complete projects and tasks.
• Complete pre-trip inspections and assist in inventory tracking of traffic control devices.
