Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a skilled equipment operator to maintain and repair roadways. You will operate backhoes, graders, dump trucks and other heavy machinery to shave shoulders, patch potholes, and perform ditching and paving tasks across District Six during the season.

Qualifications

• One year of related work experience or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• CDL Class A required within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain heavy equipment for road maintenance tasks.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspection on equipment.
• Set up traffic control according to MUTCD standards.
• Ditching, grading, paving, cleaning and debris removal.
• Respond to on-call duties and weather-related emergencies.
