Job summary

State of South Carolina's Department of Transportation is seeking a heavy equipment operator to maintain roadways across District Six during the treatment season. You will operate backhoes, loaders, pavers, dump trucks, road patchers, and other machinery, perform preventative maintenance, and handle traffic control per MUTCD standards.

At least one year of related work experience and a valid driver’s license are required; you must obtain a Class A CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• One year of related work experience.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license; CDL Class A must be attained within six months of placement.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, loader, paver and dump trucks to perform road maintenance tasks.
• Set up traffic control according to MUTCD standards.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and basic repairs on equipment.
• Work outdoors in varied weather conditions and on-call hours as required.
