Job summary

Henry County, GA is seeking a Transportation/Public Works leader to manage maintenance, repair, construction and capital improvements for county roads, bridges and related infrastructure.

The role directs professional and supervisory staff, plans and budgets, coordinates with GDOT and regional agencies, and oversees design, construction, and contract administration to ensure safe, reliable transportation assets for the community.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma and ten years of related experience, including lead or supervisory experience.
• Valid Georgia CDL with endorsements required.
• Ability to supervise and evaluate staff and manage budgets.
• Strong communication, computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and evaluate staff; set schedules.
• Plan, budget, and schedule maintenance and construction for roads and bridges.
• Coordinate with GDOT, GRTA, ARC and other agencies.
• Prepare department budgets and expenditure approvals.
• Respond to road construction emergencies.
• Operate heavy equipment and ensure material availability.
