Job summary

Caton Construction Group is seeking a Grade Foreman for our roadway construction project in Halifax County, Virginia. The role centers on organizing and leading a crew to safely perform mass earthwork and excavating activities, under the supervision of the Superintendent.

The candidate will coordinate grading work, produce schedules, supervise workers, and ensure safety and quality standards are met on site. Travel/local work with some overnight stays may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as construction foreman.
• Diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter etc.) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating construction work according to priorities and plans.
• Plan, organize and lead grading crew.
• Producing schedules and monitor attendance of crew.
• Allocating general and daily responsibilities.
• Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans.
• Schedule aggregate material quantities and deliveries. Determine trucking needs and schedule truck.
• Supervise and train workers and tradespeople.
• Ensure labor and other resources are adequate.
• Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met.
• Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.
• Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget.
• Resolve problems when they arise.
• Report on progress to managers, engineers etc.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Proven experience as construction foreman
