Job summary

The Lincoln County Highway Department is hiring an Equipment Operator to work in a team environment on road maintenance, snow removal, paving, and related tasks. This role requires collaboration with others to keep roads safe and functional across Lincoln County.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least three years as a Heavy Equipment Operator, plus a valid driver’s license and CDL eligibility. Background checks and pre-employment drug testing are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus three years at or comparable to a Heavy Equipment Operator or comparable combination of education and experience.
• Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check, driving records check, and pre-employment drug test.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license along with being eligible to receive a Commercial Class A Driver's License (CDL), and a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate motor grader in finish grade work and general maintenance.
• Operate dozer with various attachments in road construction and maintenance situations.
• Snow removal: plows, sanders, and applying sand-chemical mixtures to icy roads.
• Install and maintain traffic signs and clear roadside vegetation.
• Perform labor tasks: sign installation, culverts, flagging in work zones, debris removal.
• Service and minor repairs on equipment and purchase parts.
• Perform a variety of construction tasks necessary to complete maintenance work.
