Job summary

Lubbock County in Texas is seeking an Equipment Operator I to operate light and heavy equipment, assist in road and bridge repairs, and support maintenance of county roads and rights of way.

You will perform traffic control, conduct safety inspections, maintain records, and work under supervision to complete paving, patching, and drainage projects. High school diploma and valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Requires one year of experience in construction, maintenance, or road repairs.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drives and operates light and heavy equipment including various trucks and heavy machinery.
• Performs traffic control at the job site to ensure safety and directs traffic.
• Maintains accurate daily records of team performance, materials, and equipment.
• Performs pre- and post- vehicle/equipment inspections to ensure safety and quality.
• Assists in road base preparation, patching, drainage work, and sign/guard rail repairs.
• Assists with clearing brush, traffic control, and other labor tasks as needed.
