Job summary

Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled highway maintenance worker to perform a combination of equipment operations, preventive maintenance, and manual labor tasks on roadway projects. This role is essential for snow removal, repairs, and construction support on Virginia roadways.

You will operate light to heavy highway equipment, follow safety rules, wear PPE, and apply MUTCD standards for detours and work zones.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter.
• Experience in roadway maintenance and construction.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
• Safety shoes required.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Operations: Operate and maintain light and medium-duty highway equipment.
• Emergency Operations: Prepare and operate equipment for snow and ice removal or other emergency operations.
• Equipment Operations: Operate and maintain highway equipment and vehicles for maintenance and construction tasks.
• Job Safety: Maintain safe work environment and follow OSHA/VOSHA regulations.
• Traffic control and MUTCD compliance for detours and work zones.
