Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Roadway Engineering Intern in Minnesota, joining a team that designs highways, bridges, and transit projects.

You’ll perform design tasks under supervision, learn Civil 3D and MicroStation workflows, and contribute to cost estimates and quality control reviews, while engaging with mentors and other professionals in HDR’s employee-owned culture. The role requires active enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program, attention to detail, and strong

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and basic Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Learn local and state design requirements.
  • Perform design calculations, plan production, cost estimates and QC reviews under supervision of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Learn Microstation Open Roads and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Connect with recent graduates and mentors through programs.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Roadway Engineering Intern, we'll count on you to:
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Become familiar with local and state design requirements
  • Perform assignments including design calculations, plan production, cost estimates and supporting quality control reviews under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager
  • Learn and utilize technical software programs such as Microstation Open Roads, and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Local candidates preferred
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
