Job summary

HDR is seeking a Roadway Intern to support the Transportation Business Group in developing roadway designs and technical documentation. You will work under supervision to apply engineering techniques, develop plans and calculations, and contribute to real-world projects.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program with strong problem-solving and communication skills, and a basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures through the creation and submission of technical reports, plans, specifications and calculations.
• Assist the team with detailed roadway designs under supervision of a senior engineer.
• Participate in mentoring and young professionals programs.
• Engage with local colleagues in community service events and activities.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of a Roadway Intern, we'll count on you to:

• Gain real-world experience by applying standard Engineering techniques and proceduresthrough the creation and submission of technical reports, plans, specifications and calculations
• Work under the guidance and direct supervision of a senior-level Engineer toassist the team with detailed designs of urban and rural roadway projects
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals’ programs
• Participate with local colleagues in community service events and activities
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer 2+ years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
• Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications
