Job summary

HDR is offering a Roadway Engineering Intern position in Minnesota for current engineering students to gain hands-on experience in transportation design and analysis under supervision. You will work with project teams to learn design practices and contribute to engineering tasks.

You will use Microstation Open Roads and AutoCAD Civil 3D, learn local design requirements, and participate in cost estimates and quality reviews while engaging with mentors within HDR's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Commitment to HDR's employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures under supervision.
  • Become familiar with local and state design requirements.
  • Perform design calculations, plan production, cost estimates and quality control reviews under supervision of PE or PM.
  • Learn and utilize Microstation Open Roads and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Engage with mentors and HDR leaders through programs.

In the role ofRoadway Engineering Intern, we'll count on you to:

  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Become familiar with local and state design requirements
  • Perform assignments including design calculations, plan production, cost estimates and supporting quality control reviews under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager
  • Learn and utilize technical software programs such as Microstation Open Roads, and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Local candidates preferred
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Possess strong problem‑solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
