Job summary

RETTEW is seeking an experienced Roadway Engineer III to join our Transportation team and take ownership of roadway design and project delivery. This role targets engineers with a solid roadway foundation who can independently handle complex assignments, contribute to PennDOT projects, and become trusted technical resources for project teams.

We recognize that roadway engineers develop deep expertise in different areas of project delivery. You do not need to have done everything.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• EIT certification required.
• Experience in roadway or transportation infrastructure design.
• Experience supporting PennDOT projects.
• Proficiency with CAD and transportation-design software.
• Ability to independently perform roadway engineering and design tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to manage multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead roadway design and analysis for assigned projects.
• Develop roadway plans, alignments, profiles, sections, and grading.
• Prepare and review plans, calculations, reports, estimates, and construction documents.
• Apply judgment to evaluate alternatives and solve constructability challenges.
• Use CAD and transportation-design software to deliver high-quality outputs.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Designers, Survey, Environmental, Traffic, and other disciplines.
• Support project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource coordination.
• Participate in coordination with PennDOT, municipalities, clients, utilities.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews and field investigations.
• Mentor developing Engineers and Designers.
• Support development of scopes of work and proposals.
