Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Roadway Design Project Manager in Raleigh to lead projects from planning through construction support across the Carolinas, including highways, intersections, interchanges, bike/ped facilities, and safety improvements.

You will guide project teams, collaborate with clients and agencies, mentor engineers, and ensure designs meet standards, while expanding your leadership and technical expertise within a supportive firm environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 5–10 years of transportation roadway design experience.
• NCDOT roadway design experience preferred.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and GEOPAK; OpenRoads a plus.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to meet client deadlines with urgency.
• Detail-oriented team player contributing to a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead roadway design projects through planning, design, and construction support phases.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and technical quality.
• Oversee development of plans, specifications, estimates, and engineering calculations.
• Collaborate with clients, agency stakeholders, subconsultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor and develop engineers and design staff.
• Evaluate engineering alternatives and recommend practical solutions.
• Support data collection, engineering investigations, and project planning efforts.
• Ensure designs meet applicable agency and industry standards.
