Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Roadway Design Project Manager in North Carolina. You will lead transportation design projects from planning through construction, overseeing team members and coordinating with clients and partners.

A NC Professional Engineer license and 5–10 years of roadway design experience are preferred. You will work with diverse projects including new locations, widening, bicycle/pedestrian facilities, and interchanges, ensuring compliance with AASHTO and DOT standards.

Qualifications

• BSCE from ABET-accredited program.
• North Carolina PE license or ability to obtain.
• 5–10 years in transportation roadway design.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional engineering design for transportation projects.
• Oversee design development, construction details, specs and estimates.
• Collaborate with clients, sub-consultants and staff to deliver quality work on time and on budget.
• Direct and mentor design staff.
• Conduct investigations and data analysis to support planning and design.

As a Roadway Design Project Manager, you will play a key role in our organization, independently applying, planning, designing, directing, organizing, executing, and recommending related activities of various roadway improvement projects in the Carolinas. You will be involved in a diverse range of transportation-related projects for both public and private clients such as new location, widening, bicycle & pedestrian, highway safety, intersection, interchange, and design-build projects across all phases of a project life from advanced planning to final design and construction support.

Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include

• Providing professional engineering design services for transportation improvements projects
• Overseeing design development and production of construction details, plans, specifications, and estimates including detailed engineering calculations
• Collaborating with clients, sub-consultant partners, technical staff, and managers across multiple disciplines to develop quality deliverables within schedule and budgetary requirements
• Directing and mentoring design support staff
• Conduct engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks including collection and analysis of data
• Perform routine calculations, and participating in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions

What You'll Need

• Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil Engineering
• North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 5 - 10 years of transportation roadway design experience
• NCDOT roadway design experience (preferred)
• Proficiency in MicroStation and GEOPAK. OpenRoads experience is a plus
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of AASHTO and State DOT design standards
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
• Detail-oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment
