Job summary

Tetra Tech, Inc. invites motivated civil engineering students to join our Transportation Roadway Design Internship in Brighton, MI. You will work on real projects, collaborating with experienced engineers to develop roadway and traffic design skills, reports, and calculations.

The role offers exposure to local roadways and transportation design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D, with travel up to 15% and a strong focus on professional growth within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (transportation focus is a plus).
• Strong interest in roadway and transportation design.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Exposure to MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D is helpful but not required.
• Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Availability to travel periodically (up to 15%) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design of local roadways, highways, multi-use paths, and traffic control systems.
• Support development of roadway, signing, pavement marking, and traffic signal plans.
• Help prepare calculations, estimates, and design reports.
• Conduct site visits with senior engineers to support the design process.
• Learn and apply roadway modeling tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D.
