Job summary

STV, Inc. is seeking a Roadway Engineering Specialist to join our Pennsylvania Transportation group. You can be based in Douglassville, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, or Philadelphia.

The role focuses on roadway and transit design using MicroStation Inroads and OpenRoads Designer, with mentoring and cross-team collaboration. Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s in civil/transportation engineering, have at least 2 years’ experience in roadway design, and have passed the FE exam.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field.
• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering is a plus.
• Successful completion of the FE exam.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine 3D models, alignments, profiles, corridors, and cross-sections for transportation projects.
• Mentor and train junior engineers in highway geometry and modeling software.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design elements into project plans.
• Prepare drawings, plans, and technical specifications for roadway, highway, and transit projects.
• Conduct design reviews, constructability checks, and quality control per standards.

Roadway Engineering Specialists

STV currently has openings for a Roadway Engineering Specialist to join our Pennsylvania Transportation group. You can be based in Douglassville, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, or Philadelphia.

STV is seeking an experienced and motivated Roadway Engineering Specialist with extensive expertise in MicroStation Inroads software. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of roadway, highway, and transit projects, contributing to innovative design solutions that meet the highest quality standards, budget constraints, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine 3D models, alignments, profiles, corridors, and cross-sections for transportation projects.
• Mentor and train junior engineers in highway geometry and effective use of modeling software.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design elements into comprehensive project plans.
• Prepare detailed drawings, plans, and technical specifications for roadway, highway, and transit infrastructure projects.
• Conduct thorough design reviews, constructability assessments, and quality control checks to ensure designs align with project objectives and regulatory standards.
• Contribute to the preparation of project reports, presentations, and client communications to ensure effective project delivery.
• Stay current with industry trends, software advancements, and best practices related to OpenRoads, applying new knowledge to enhance project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering is a plus.
• Successful completion of the FE exam.
• Strong proficiency in MicroStation Inroads with Bentley’s OpenRoads Designer being a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation engineering, focusing on roadway design, alignment optimization, and geometric design.
• Experience with signing, pavement marking, and traffic control plan development.
• Traffic signal and ITS design experience is a plus.
• Stormwater management and erosion and sedimentation control design and permitting is a plus.
• Familiarity with design standards and guidelines, including PennDOT, AASHTO, and FHWA.
• Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Professional society membership and involvement is a plus.

Compensation Range

$83,978.91 - $95,975.90

STV is committed to paying all of its employees in a fair, equitable, and transparent manner. The listed pay range is STV’s good‑faith salary estimate for this position. The final salary offered may be outside of this published range based on many factors, including geography, education, experience, and certifications.
