DKS Associates is seeking an entry-level Roadway Design Engineering Assistant in Boise, ID. The role focuses on building foundational roadway and multimodal design skills while supporting project teams under supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• EE/TI certificate preferred or ability to obtain EIT.
• Familiarity with roadway design principles and engineering basics.
• Experience or coursework in roadway design and drainage analysis.
• Exposure to AutoCAD, MicroStation or similar tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Attention to detail and self-review of work.

Responsibilities

• Support roadway and multimodal design tasks under licensed engineers and senior staff.
• Assist with preparation of plan sheets, exhibits, and design graphics.
• Develop basic design elements like alignments, profiles, cross sections, and quantities with guidance.
• Apply agency standards, design manuals, and project criteria as directed.
• Support cost estimates, quantity calculations, and design documentation.
• Coordinate tasks with other disciplines under supervision.
• Participate in internal quality control and incorporate review comments.
• Assist with responding to agency or client comments.
• Participate in field reviews, site visits, and construction support activities as needed.
• Proactively seek feedback and demonstrate progress in technical skill development.

Roadway Design Engineering Assistant

The Roadway Design Engineering Assistant is an entry-level position focused on building foundational roadway and multimodal design skills. This role supports project teams through production, analysis, and coordination tasks while learning applicable standards, tools, and best practices. What will you be doing?

What are we looking for?

Salary Range DOE: EIT (Level 1): $35.84 - 37.81 per hour Assistant (Level 2 - posted job): $38.41 - 41.74 per hour
