Job summary

State of Arizona Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Engineering Specialist to perform roadway design and related studies under the Roadway Design Team. You will review reports, develop scoping documents, and monitor schedules and budgets for statewide roadway projects.

The role may offer remote work within Arizona, with performance measures tied to outcomes. The department emphasizes flexibility, autonomy, and trust across agencies while delivering high-quality transportation

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• 1–2 years highway and roadway design experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Develop roadway designs, plans and details including geometrics and cross sections.
• Coordinate with project team, utilities, ROW and environmental planning; monitor scope, schedule and budget.
• Prepare earthwork calculations, design calculations and cost estimates for roadway projects.
• Ensure compliance with ADOT guidelines and the Five-Year Highway Construction Program.
