Job summary

HMB Professional Engineers, LLC in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to join the Transportation team. The role offers a compensation range of $85,000 to $110,000 per year and includes a $5K sign-on bonus.

You will collaborate with project managers, prepare design drawings and documents, and grow toward a Project Manager role through mentorship and increased responsibilities. The firm supports hybrid work and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in roadway design.
• INDOT experience is a plus.
• OpenRoads Designer experience preferred.
• PE Certification preferred.
• Detail-oriented with strong technical and organizational skills.
• Proficient with standard industry software and MS Office.
• Works well in multidisciplinary teams and meets deadlines.
• Strong oral and written communication; proactive with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support roadway design tasks with project teams and mentorship from senior engineers.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to meet schedules and budgets.
• Grow into a Project Manager role through increasing responsibility.
• Prepare design drawings, details, presentations, and construction documents.
• Assist in permit applications and submittal packages for review.
• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, agencies, ROW staff, utilities, and contractors.
• Support development and tracking of scopes, schedules, and budgets.
