Job summary

HMB is seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to join our Lexington, Frankfort, or Louisville KY offices. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary design team on signature projects and have opportunities for growth into a Project Manager role through mentorship and progressive responsibility.

Responsibilities include producing design drawings, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring schedules and budgets are met. We offer a flexible hybrid schedule and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years in roadway design required.
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer preferred.
• PE certification is preferred.
• Detail-oriented with strong technical and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing and standard industry software.

Responsibilities

• Support roadway design tasks with project teams and mentors.
• Work with Project Managers to meet schedule and budget.
• Grow into Project Manager role through mentorship and increasing responsibility.
• Prepare design drawings, details, and construction documents per standards.
• Assist in permit applications and submittal packages for regulators.
• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, permitting agencies, and contractors.
• Support development and tracking of project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
