Job summary

The State of Indiana, INDOT Fort Wayne District, seeks a crew lead for facilities maintenance. You will supervise a team performing highway maintenance, repairs, and inspections across district facilities. CDL is required or must be obtained within 90 days, with CDL training provided onsite. You will ensure safety, quality, and timely project completion.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL required or obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Pass a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Knowledge of highway guidelines, laws, and inspection practices.
• Ability to lead and coordinate a field crew in the site.
• Ability to read and follow technical documents.
• Able to endure exposure to inclement weather and lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance equipment to repair and clean highways and rights‑of‑way.
• Lead staff to complete work assignments and report issues to supervisors.
• Coordinate with contractors to ensure INDOT standards are met.
• Perform winter operations, snow and ice removal.
• Inspect and maintain equipment; perform routine servicing.
• Maintain traffic signs, route markers, and pavement markings.
• Respond to emergencies including traffic control and barricade placement.
• Assist with construction inspection and materials testing where needed.
