Job summary

The City of Roswell is seeking a Street & Highway Inspector to enforce city, state, and federal regulations on road and drainage projects. The role involves coordinating construction activities, inspecting paving and drainage, and ensuring ADA compliance on city road projects.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by three (3) years of experience in construction inspection; and including a minimum two (2) years of experience in roadway construction, bridge repair and maintenance.
• Ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment, and maintain a Level 1B Certification for Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control and Work Zone Safety Certification.
• Possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License, and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Ability to learn, comprehend, and apply all city or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all aspects of construction project; maintains Project Log Book and records daily activities.
• Inspects grading, subgrade and base work, pipe laying, paving, drainage, curb and gutter work, and ADA compliance.
• Mediates issues between contractors and citizens; acts as liaison with departments and residents.
• Attends pre-construction and plan review meetings; examines plans to ensure adherence.
• Reviews erosion control plans and ensures proper implementation of each element of the plan.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, codes, and regulations; participates in education and meetings.
