Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation in Forsyth County seeks a Transportation Worker Level 3 to manage vegetation along rights-of-way, including herbicide application and plant bed maintenance.

You will operate trucks, tractors, mulch blowers and other equipment; provide maintenance; and comply with safety and CDL requirements. This position requires the ability to work in all weather, on uneven surfaces, and may involve emergency callbacks and night shifts.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vegetation management incl shrubs/trees and sound horticultural practices.
• Experience applying herbicides to control weeds and brush.
• Experience with Category B equipment (e.g., asphalt distributor, front end loader, dump truck, tractor attachments).
• Experience in applying herbicides and pesticides per label; proper storage and disposal techniques.
• Experience operating pesticide applicator trucks, tractors, and utility vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Manage vegetation along rights-of-way using herbicides and sustainable practices.
• Assist in seeding/mulching, erosion control, plant bed and wildflower maintenance.
• Operate, inspect, and maintain equipment including trucks, tractors, and mulch blowers.
• Work in all weather conditions and on uneven surfaces; may involve emergency callbacks.
