Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation, Division 9, Roadside Environmental Unit in Forsyth County, seeks a Transportation Worker IV to plan, organize, and schedule field activities, including pesticide applications and landscaping projects for NC Wildflower Program.

Ideal candidate will manage pesticide storage and application per NCDA rules, supervise crews, maintain FR-11 records, and support safety and operations in varied weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vegetation management and horticultural practices.
• Experience applying herbicides and pesticides per label instructions.
• Experience operating pesticide applicator trucks, tractors, and utility vehicles.
• Experience leading a crew and directing daily activities.
• Experience in installing wildflower beds and landscape plantings.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and schedule work activities, materials, and equipment for crews in the Roadside Environmental Unit.
• Ensure pesticide storage, application, and disposal adheres to NCDA rules and NCDOT policies.
• Maintain FR-11 records: man hours, equipment hours, inventory, location and work accomplished.
• Adjust work assignments and train employees on-the-job.
• Conduct daily safety meetings and assist higher level supervisors with public concerns.
