Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the New Jersey Highways & Traffic Engineering team in our Hamilton office. You will assist in staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and client coordination on infrastructure projects across local and county road networks.

The ideal candidate has a PE license, 6+ years of relevant design experience, and proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads Designer, or Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
• 6+ years of infrastructure engineering design experience required; drainage experience is a plus.
• PE license required.
• Experience with MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads Designer, and/or Civil 3D is a plus.
• Interest in developing, coaching, and mentoring junior staff.
• Familiarity with NJ Counties is a plus.
• Previous NJDOT, NJTA or Federal Aid Project experience is a plus.
• Active membership in a professional practice organization or willingness to join encouraged.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for job communications.

Responsibilities

• Apply diversified engineering principles to support highway and roadway operations.
• Lead technical design tasks, including plans, specs, estimates, calculations, and construction documents.
• Develop roadway, sidewalk, and intersection designs including roundabouts and traffic signals.
• QA/QC on work and act as quality coordinator for discipline-led projects.
• Coordinate tasks across internal disciplines and serve as client contact when appropriate.
• Assist in training, mentoring, and supervising staff.
• Support staffing planning, scope and proposal development, scheduling and budgeting.
• Attend project meetings and public/client presentations as needed.
• Demonstrate willingness to learn and grow professionally.
