Job summary

Coventry City Council is recruiting Road Worker Level 2/3 to join the Direct Labour Organisation and support maintenance of Coventry’s highways. You will lead a small team, perform highway construction and routine maintenance including drainage and surfacing work.

Candidates should have experience in highway works, be able to work in all weathers, and hold a full UK driving license. The role offers permanent, full-time employment with opportunities to contribute to major city projects.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
• Ability to operate a variety of plant machinery including heavy rollers, dumpers, compressors/Jack Hammers, Sthil saws, whacker plates safely.
• Experience of working within Highway construction/maintenance.
• Ability to work within a team environment and under your own initiative.
• Experience of running a small team.
• Good communication and numeracy skills.
• Experience of working with members of the public from diverse backgrounds.
• Willing to undertake training when required.
• Able to work in all weathers.
• Full UK Driving License.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team and undertake highway construction and maintenance activities to precise levels and tolerances.
• Construct and maintain footways, carriageways and drainage.
• Laying bituminous materials, drainage installation, kerb, paving and pipe laying.
• Work on high profile schemes across the city.
• Ensure safety and compliance with Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
