Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation seeks a maintenance worker at the Sunset Hills Maintenance Facility in Sunset Hills, MO. This entry-level to senior-level CAREER-LADDER role focuses on routine roadway and facility maintenance under supervision.

You will perform tasks such as pothole filling, traffic control, sign and guardrail maintenance, snow plowing, and equipment operation. Physical stamina and CDL readiness are required; nighttime/overtime work possible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Passing grade on CDL written exam and driving portion with tanker endorsement and Class B interstate status within 60 days after hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains state highway systems, including filling roadway joints and cracks and patching potholes; flagging and directing traffic; setting up signs, cones, arrow boards, and other traffic control devices.
• Maintains, cleans, and repairs state highway facilities, including repairing and replacing road signs and guardrails; cleaning curbs and gutters; painting buildings and equipment; servicing equipment and machinery.
• Operates vehicles to transport employees, equipment, machinery and/or materials; plows snow and spreads ice control materials; mows right of way; operates auger, trencher, backhoe, forklift, and various trucks.
• May repair bridge decks and drains; clean bridge bents/caps at heights using ladders or scaffolding.
• May install signs, inspect signs, pour concrete footings, weld and cut steel sign posts, and repair signs.
